WASSCE for School Candidates
(conducted between May and June) is the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school candidates. It is taken by final year students in senior secondary schools who are currently students of schools. This examination is offered during the summer (April to May), and the results are available by August

WASSCE for Private Candidates (Jan/Feb and Nov/Dec)
also known as General Certificate Examination (GCE) or WAEC GCE, is a private examination and uniforms are not required, but biometric registration is compulsory as in the former. This examination is offered during early spring (known as the first series) or autumn (known as the second series), and it is usually taken by secondary school leavers who want to correct deficiencies in their results.

The National Examinations Council (also known as NECO)
The National Examinations Council (also known as NECO) is an examination body in Nigeria that conducts the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination and the General Certificate in Education in June/July and November/December respectively.

Basic Education Certificate Education (BECE)
BECE is the final exam for Junior Secondary School students in Nigeria, conducted by NECO.
